►Started Tapping the Keyboard

Happy to have set my brain on fire this weekend.  I have, after 9 weeks of planning a series (a septology), begun Draft One of book one.

This septology is an epic (I loathe how this word has been kidnapped by the equivalent of neo-valley-girls) dark medieval Fantasy series.  I’m hoping that my skills as an author have improved to the point where I can complete each book quickly.  This can happen if I’ve done my pre-drafting work correctly, because each scene that I’ll write has been (at least partially) ironed out before I am typing it.

I believe that the structure of planning I outlined here will serve me well.  I’ve only written Chaps 0-1 (& part of 2), but I think that it has paid off, for I sat down knowing just what I needed to write.  I’ve wondered recently about the correlation between writer’s block and not planning your scenes.  Hard to say.

Well, brain’s still on fire.  Hope I dream about it tonight, but, far more likely, I will dream about something like grocery shopping.  It’s just not a fair world.
